Cullen Gardens Miniature Village which officially opened in May of 1980 by founder Len Cullen and his wife, Connie, the Gardens have been a major tourist attraction in Whitby and the entire Durham Region for 25 years, until it closed January 8th, 2006. The 36-acres of show gardens and the truly unique miniature village featuring more than 160 buildings, cottages and homes has been a major landmark for Whitby, Durham region and Canada. . A detailed inventory and appraisal was completed as part of the due diligence review process prior to closing. The detailed inventory includes a picture inventory and written description of each component with an appraised value totalling approximately $678,600. the collection, consisting of 182 components including buildings, displays, trains, fixtures, electronics and mechanical. A detailed inventory and appraisal was completed by Owen Hachey Consulting on June 22, 2007. Mr. Hachey’s appraisal indicated that the value of the collection is approximately $678,000.
